Homeopathic remedies can be administered at home to relieve the pain of occasional earaches. Belladonna is effective for earaches that come on suddenly, with severe, throbbing pains. Chamomilla is good for earaches associated with teething.

If you develop an earache accompanied by a yellowish green, creamy discharge from the ear after having had a cold for several days, you have no thirst and you desire company and sympathy, try taking a 6C or 12C dose of Pulsatilla. Children who need Pulsatilla tend to be weepy, sensitive, and clingy. Their cheeks will be pale, and there may be a thick, yellow-green discharge from the nose or the ear.

If you have an earache accompanied by a high fever, thick, greenish nasal or ear discharge, salivation, foul breath and irritability, take a dose of Mercurius.

If you develop a very painful earache during the night, the ear is very sensitive to touch and to cold and you feel very chilly a 6C or 12C dose of Hepar sulphuris.

Aconite is for the sudden onset of earache after a chill. The child may awaken in the night screaming with pain and appearing anxious and scared. Recurring earaches also respond well to homeopathic treatment; consult a trained homeopath for help in choosing the right remedy.
